Draw a stroke on

Draw makes a stroke appear, disappear, or travel along its path. You pick a mode, then animate how much of the line is visible.

Use this to:

  • Draw a line on as if it were being written
  • Erase a stroke after it appears
  • Slide a short segment along a path

You don’t measure the path. Start, End, and Offset are percentages.

Draw a line on

  1. Select a stroked path.
  2. Open Draw in the property editor.
  3. Set Mode to draw on.
  4. Add a key for End at 0, then another at 100. Leave Start at 0.
  5. Preview. The stroke writes itself on.

While Draw is on, Stroke Dasharray and Dashoffset stay visible but locked. Turn Mode back to off if you want to edit those by hand.

Other modes

  • erase — hide the stroke along the path.
  • window — show a short segment. Start and End set the length; Offset moves it.
  • flow — keep that segment marching along the path.
  • off — turn Draw off.

The repeater next to Mode repeats Start, End, and Offset. For repeating position or other properties, see repeaters.

Tip: Increase the duration while you set this up so you can see the reveal clearly.

Script console and WebMCP

The same steps run in Edit → Scripting and through WebMCP. Agents run a script with pureanim_run_script or window.pureanim.run().

WebMCP tools:

  • pureanim_get_state
  • pureanim_list_commands
  • pureanim_run_script
  • pureanim_set_time
api.setDraw({ layer, mode, start, end, offset });
api.createDrawKey({ layer, field: "start", at, value });
api.deleteDrawKey({ layer, field: "start", at });
api.clearDraw({ layer });
api.setDrawRepeater({ layer, mode });

mode can be "off", "draw-on", "erase", "draw-off", "window", or "flow". erase is the same as "draw-off". field is "start", "end", or "offset".
